Russian private (homestay) visa for Turkmen citizens
Turkmen citizen, who is going to visit his relatives or friends in Russia can apply for a homestay visa in the Russian embassy. But he needs to obtain a homestay invitation letter to Russia at first. A homestay invitation is a document, which can be issued by an individual or a legal entity located in the Russian Federation.
If a legal entity wants to invite a foreigner to Russia, a private invitation need to be issued by the Federal Migration Service. In order to obtain this invitation, it is needed to make a request to the FMS for a visa issuance and submit a list of necessary documents. Such application will be considered for 17 work days.

If an individual want to invite a foreigner to Russia, he needs to submit an application and a list of documents to the FMS section. Among these documents must be a guarantee letter, in which an inviting person commits a providing of an accommodation and medical care to a foreigner for the whole period of his homestay visa duration. This application will be considered in the FMS for 30 days.
There can be a positive or negative solution under the application. In the case of a negative solution, a refusal in a written form with an indication of the reasons will be given. If there is a positive solution, a homestay invitation will be issued on the state sample letterhead.
Private visas are issued to the possessors of homestay invitations for the period indicated in these invitations. The maximum validity of a homestay invitation is 90 days. Private visa is for single or double entries.

The business visa invitation letter can be obtained by either of these ways:

Invitation in the letter form can be issued only by company accredited in the FMS or in the Consular department of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Russia. Such invitation is a request from the head of a company to issue a business visa to a Turkmen citizen presenting this invitation.
Invitations on the FMS letterhead are issued on the basis of an application. Before issue such invitation, FMS employees checks a foreigner. If he has not violated a visa regime and has not been deported from Russia before, he will obtain an invitation on the state sample letterhead.
Telex invitation represents an order to issue a business visa, which sends through a special communication line from the Russian Ministry of foreign affairs to the Russian embassy situated in Turkmenistan. When an invitation issues through Telex, it is not necessary to send any papers to an invited person.

Russian work visa for Turkmen citizens
If Turkmen citizen wants to come to Russia for a work. He needs to obtain a work visa in the Russian embassy at first. An employer company must help him to issue documents for a visa application.

Russian Electronic Visa from Turkmenistan
An electronic visa (hereinafter referred to as "e-visa") is a new type of a visa document. A visa invitation to Russia is not required for obtaining an e-visa. To obtain an e-visa to Russia use our “E-visa to Russia” service.
An e-visa can be only single-entry. The permitted stay in Russia on an e-visa is up to 8 days from the date of entry within its validity period.
The validity period and/ or permitted stay on an e-visa cannot be extended. To obtain an e-visa a foreign citizen needs a digital passport photo and a completed application form containing full and valid data at the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
