Russian Private Visa for Norwegian citizens

A citizen of Norway who wants to visit his/her relatives or friends located in Russia can apply for a private visa. In order to do this he/she has to present at the consulate a private invitation. Such invitation can be issued by an inviting party at the appropriate department of the Federal Migration Service (the FMS). An individual should apply for invitation at the department of the Federal Migration Service at the place of his/her residence, while representatives of legal entities should go to the FMS departments at the place of their registration in order to have their invitations issued.

Russian Business Visa from Norway

Those citizens of Norway who are planning to visit Russia to participate in seminars or auctions, to sign agreements with their Russian partners or to look for new business partners should apply for a business visa.

It is necessary to provide an invitation at a consulate in order to receive a business visa.

The business visa invitation letter can be obtained by either of these ways:

An Invitation on the letterhead of an inviting company is a letter where such a company sends a request to a consulate of the RF to give a visa for a certain foreign citizen. The issuing of this invitation takes only one day.

An invitation sent by telex is an requirement from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation to a consulate of the RF. With such an invitation a foreigner must quote at the embassy the number he/she would be given by an inviting party.

An invitation on a special FMS form is issued by an authorized federal body. It can be received after giving in an application to have it. It will be given only in case the investigation held by the authorized body will prove that the invited foreign citizen didn’t have any criminal convictions in the Russian Federation, does not have any unpaid penalties or deportations from the country.

Work visa for Norwegian citizens

In order to receive a work visa to the Russian Federation a citizen of Norway must have an invitation. Such invitation would be issued only in case this foreigner has the right to work in the Russian Federation or has a special card of the employee of the foreign representative office.

After the arrival to the RF a Norwegian citizen must be registered at the Migration Service. A company which is employing a citizen of Norway to work in the RF should assist him/her with issuing his/her invitation and visa.

To obtain a work visa a citizen a Norway should do the following:

  • To receive a work permit (an employer should lend a hand with this);
  • To receive an invitation and to obtain a visa for a period of 90 days;
  • To come to Russia and register at the Migration Service;
  • To extend a work visa  (it is extended for a whole term of a work permit);
  • To register at the Migration Service for the term of the extended visa.

Russian Electronic Visa from Norway

An electronic visa (hereinafter referred to as "e-visa") is a new type of a visa document. A visa invitation to Russia is not required for obtaining an e-visa. To obtain an e-visa to Russia use our “E-visa to Russia” service.

An e-visa can be only single-entry. The permitted stay in Russia on an e-visa is up to 8 days from the date of entry within its validity period.

The validity period and/ or permitted stay on an e-visa cannot be extended. To obtain an e-visa a foreign citizen needs a digital passport photo and a completed application form containing full and valid data at the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
