Do Indonesian need Visa to Russia?

Yes, they do. In order to be able to legally enter Russia Indonesian citizens have to obtain a visa. Issuing of such visa is possible only in case you have your visa support documents (an invitation).  Such Invitations may differ in their outward appearance and the issuing method depending on the type of a visa.

How to Get Russian Visa from Indonesia?

The visa obtaining procedure may vary depending on the purpose of a visit. In order to obtain a Russian visa a citizen of Indonesia should apply for it at an embassy of Russia which is located in his country. There he/she should fill in a special application form to receive a visa, pay a consulate fee (which will be taken even if an applicant is rejected in visa). It is also obligatory to bring in an invitation, issued by an inviting party located in Russia. 

Such invitation to Russia can be issued by a tourist company, a friend or a relative, business partners or companies, employers. Depending on the type of a visa they can be single, double or multiple entry. Indonesia being a country of a high migration risk the fact that you have received an invitation doesn’t guarantee you the receiving of a visa.

Russian Tourist Visa from Indonesia

In order to obtain a tourist visa a citizen of Indonesia must give in a tourist invitation into an embassy of Russia. This type of invitation to visit Russia for Indonesian can be made within 1 working day. Only those travel companies are authorized to be dealing with invitations to Russia which are legally registered with the Federal Register of Russian Tour operators and have their own reference-number.

Such invitation consists of a tourist voucher and a confirmation of a visit. The outward appearance of the invitation may differ, as each company may print it on its own letterhead.  

Each tourist invitation should contain the following information:

  • Name of the company, its legal address and a reference-number;
  • Passport data of a foreigner;
  • The estimated itinerary of a trip (i.e., names of cities in Russia);
  • Places of accommodation (i.e., hotels);
  • Dates of entry and departure.

It should be noted that having such an invitation will not guarantee the obtaining of a visa. Thus, if during the documents check it will be found that during some previous visits to Russia an Indonesian citizen had some criminal records: such as law violations or unpaid penalties, he/she will be refused in a visa.

Russian Private Visa for Indonesian citizens

In case a citizen of Indonesia has friends or relatives in Russia and he/she wants to visit them, it is necessary to give in the documents to a consulate in order to apply for a private visa. Such documents must include the invitation to Russia.

An inviting party, a resident of Russia, should provide such invitation. In order to do that a person who has invited a foreign citizen should apply to a department of the Federal Migration Service at the place of his/her registration and to give in an application to receive a private invitation. In addition to this he/she has to provide the following documents: a copy of a passport of the invited foreigner and a sponsorship letter where the host will take all financial responsibility for the visitor as well as for his accommodation in Russia and guarantee to cover all possible expenses for his/her medical treatment, if any. Moreover, the inviting person should give in a statement of income indicating his salary and pay an appropriate state tax. As Indonesia is a country of a high migration risk, a person who has invited a foreigner will be interviewed by an officer of the Federal Migration Service. In different departments of the FMS invitations can be issued within a period of up to 30 days from the day of giving in the documents.

Private invitations can be also applied for by legal entities. In this case the issuing period will be - 12 work days for a single entry visa and 17 – for a double entry. Private visa can be valid for a period of 90 days.

Russian Business Visa from Indonesia

Business visa to Russia is very popular with business people. It can be single, double or multiple entry. With a validity from several days to one year. In order to receive such visa it is necessary to give in a business invitation to an embassy.

The business visa invitation letter can be obtained by either of these ways:

The inviting party can issue business invitations on its own letterheads only in case it is accredited by the Federal Migration Service. The issuing of such invitation takes only 1 day.

An invitation on the special FMS form will be issued if the inviting company applies for it. The issuing period can be equal to 12-17 work days (12 days for 1-, 2-entries visa and 17 for a multiple entry).

Telex is an order sent from the Ministry for Foreign Relations of the Russian Federation to a certain consulate by telex to give a visa to a certain foreign citizen. When an invitation is issued as a telex a foreigner should just quote its number at the embassy.

Work visa for Indonesian citizens

Work visa allowing a citizen of Indonesia to work in Russia can be obtained only with a help of an employer. In order to do this a company-employer should first receive a work permit for a certain foreigner as well as to issue a special invitation for him/her.
