Monuments in Novosibirsk

Novosibirsk, despite its young age, has a lot of interesting sights, in particular, unusual monuments, which, along with historical architectural objects, won the love and popularity of the residents and guests of the city.

Novosibirsk citizens cherish their history. This is evidenced by the fact that one of the surviving spans of the first railway bridge, from whose construction the history of the city began, has today been turned into a monument. It should be noted that during the construction and assembly of the bridge, the Russians used a new method, which was named in the textbooks of bridge construction as the “Russian method”, and at the Paris World Exhibition (in 1900) its project received the main prize.

1. Railway bridge, a memorial complex in Novosibirsk

The Railway Bridge across the Ob is a historical memorial complex and serves as one of the main historical monuments of the city of Novosibirsk. It is located within the Central District, on the land of the Ob River embankment, near the October pier. The complex is organized with the aim of preserving a historically important event - the erection of the first railway bridge across the Ob in Novonikolayevsk. Construction work on the bridge and the Great Siberian Railway at the end of the 19th century marked the formation of the city on the Ob - Novonikolayevsk

The first stone of the future bridge was laid on July 20, 1893, the same date is considered the birthday of Novosibirsk. The place of the bridge was determined by engineer Garin-Mikhailovsky, also known for his literary merit. Bridge was designed by N.A. Belelyubsky, a bridge engineer. The construction system of the Belelyubsky Bridge was a unique engineering design solution; this bridge was one of the first in the country, whose spans were blocked by cantilevered metal structures.

The railway bridge across the Ob, as well as the other bridges of Transsib, was one of the largest and most modern structures in the country at the end of the 19th century. After a hundred years of operation, in the 90s of the 20th century, the bridge was dismantled, and one of its spans was installed on the Ob Embankment as a museum exhibit and as a keepsake to future generations.

2. Monument to V.I. Lenin in Novosibirsk

The monument to V.I. Lenin is located on the main square of Novosibirsk - Lenin Square. It was installed in front of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater. The monument was established on November 5, 1970, in honor of the 53rd anniversary of the Great October Social Revolution and the centenary anniversary of Vladimir Ilyich himself. Lenin's sculpture in full growth is made of bronze and weighs 10 tons, the whole monument reaches 6.5 meters, the pedestal is composed of polished granite.

The architectural composition is composed of several figures, the central one is Lenin, to his right are the worker, the soldier and the peasant — the symbols of the revolutionary movement; on the left side there is a young man and a girl with a torch and ears of corn, respectively - symbols of the continuity of generations. The authors of the monument were Brodsky, Pokrovsky, Skoblikov and Burkhanov. Monument to V.I. Lenin is protected by the state from December 4, 1974. It is interesting that other figures, installed at the same time as the monument to Lenin, were not given the same honor. Nowadays, many are fighting for the transfer of the largest monument to Lenin within the borders of Novosibirsk. The reason is the Opera House, which is hidden behind the people's leader, and the residents believe that Lenin is an obstacle to admiring the beautiful theater building. But due to the fact that the monument is federal, the decision on its fate can be taken only by the relevant authorities of the federal scale. In the meantime, the monument to V.I. Lenin remains one of the main monuments of Novosibirsk.

3. Monument to a business woman in Novosibirsk

You can see the amazing sculpture of a business woman in Novosibirsk. Next to the statue is, in fact, its sponsor - the company "Graf", engaged in printing. You can understand that the sculpture is advertising company of " Graf " by its chair, whose role and the symbol of the organization concurrently took the letter "A", turned upside down. The face of the modern woman is twisted in an easy smile; she looks along the street with her head held high.

Often, the sculpture is called differently: “Monument to the Secretary”, “Monument to the careerist”, as well as “Monument to the teacher”. And in fact, in fact, the table in the composition of the monument is remotely like a school desk.

4. Monument to V. S. Vysotsky in Novosibirsk

“I breathe, and it means - I love! I love, and it means - I live” - the glory of Vladimir Semenovich Vysotsky can be quoted endlessly - a man in love with life forever remained in the hearts of the people. Vysotsky was able to win the recognition of the people, so much that even after his death, he was respected and his work is not forgotten. Around the world, they created museums in his honor, put the monuments. Every year, on Memorial Day, they read his poems and concerts: January 25 and July 25 (date of birth and death).

In 2005, on July 25, a monument to Vladimir Semenovich was erected in Novosibirsk. The height of the building is six meters. As conceived by the sculptor (Alexander Tartynov), Vysotsky is depicted with a guitar in his right hand, and he lifts his left hand in a friendly gesture - he waves. The pedestal, on which the figure of the poet stands, is symbolically similar to the blade - barefoot Vladimir carelessly walks on it. The bottom inscription: "Poets walk their heels along the blade of a knife - they cut their bare souls into blood". Once at the feet of the sculpture, Yorick's skull was still lying, but it miraculously disappeared several times and returned to its place. But, in the end, he was lost somewhere - however, the symbolism does not lose the monument from this. In order to emphasize the importance of this place, a year later (in 2006), along with the landmark, they “raised” the Bards Alley - this time, there is no longer a similar park in the world. Memorial plaques with the names of great performers were installed here. For example, Nikolay Shipilov, Boris Vakhnyuk, Alexander Vertinsky, Bulat Okudzhave and so on.

5. Monument to the traffic light in Novosibirsk

The monument to the first traffic light and traffic police officer was opened in 2006. Like some other monuments of Novosibirsk, this sculpture is the first in Russia. Formally, the opening of the monument was timed to the seventieth anniversary of the formation of traffic police. In place of the monument in the forties of the last century, one of the first traffic lights in the city was installed. It was a model in which manual control was used.

The composition is a sculptural image of a guard, saluting a traffic light. It symbolizes one of the stages in the development of the city - its growth and the appearance of the first traffic lights that regulated traffic around children's educational institutions, at the same time paying tribute to a new round of history - the development stage of technologies and cars, and the modern period of technology development, as according to the creators the monument acts as a symbol of the transfer of many actions from human to electronic systems. Executed "in bronze", the sculpture is notable for its grandeur and at the same time a reality, perhaps because it is made in real size. Symbolizing a stage in the history of the city, the monument to the first traffic light for several years of its existence, became not only a landmark of Novosibirsk, but also an important part of it.

6. Monument to Alexander the Third in Novosibirsk

The monument to Alexander III in Novosibirsk was unveiled in June 2012 in the City Beginning Park on the Ob river embankment. The choice of the emperor Alexander III by the hero was due to the fact that at the end of the 19th century the emperor issued a decree on the beginning of the construction of the Trans-Siberian railway, which determined the foundation of Novosibirsk. The sculptural composition is symbolically oriented to the east. The monument became the second object of the park “City beginning” (the first one - the span of the historic railway bridge across the Ob).

The author of the monument is the national artist of Russia Salavat Shcherbakov. The monument is a thirteen meter sculpture. The five-meter figure of the king was cast in a Moscow workshop. The guest of honor of the ceremony is not a word of the Russian-great-great-grandson of Emperor Alexander III, a Danish citizen Pavel Kulikovsky, who arrived at the invitation of the Novosibirsk nobility meeting.

Grachev and artist-architect O.D. Drozdetsky.

In 2007, in connection with the anniversary of the Conservatory, a complete reconstruction of the monument was carried out. Next to the figure of Glinka, two small steles with images of the characters of his operas Life for the Tsar and Ruslan and Lyudmila stood: Ivan Susanin, Antonida, Chernomor and Ruslan. 8. Monument to Mikhail Kutuzov in Novosibirsk

The monument was erected at the garrison House of Officers. The idea of installing this monument, judging by the archival data, originated in 1914, but failed to bring it to life. This information was found by the staff of the museum of the history of the troops of the Siberian military district, on whose initiative the bust was soon installed.

For Novosibirsk, as well as for the whole country, the celebration of the “anniversary” of the victory in the war with Napoleon is an extraordinary event. About 30 thousand people from Siberia took part in it. In the largest military formation consisted of 17 thousand soldiers and officers, almost all of whom died during the defense of the Rajewsky battery. Now Kutuzov’s bust will become a kind of symbol of the victory of the Russian people and a reminder of his exploits.

Monument to M.A. Lavrentiev in Novosibirsk

The monument to Mikhail Alekseevich Lavrentiev was installed in 1988 in the Novosibirsk Academgorodok. Sculpture G. L. Paramonov tried most accurately to convey in bronze the nature and appearance of the famous Soviet scientist. The bronze bust of a talented mathematician and mechanic was established solely thanks to the initiative of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences, the founder of which was Lavrentiev. When the competition was already held, the best project was selected and the place to install the pedestal was determined, the city authorities determined the chosen option to be unprofessional and refused to consider it further. However, the sculpture was still made and installed in the intended place.

The city authorities have nothing left but to accept the situation. Students, schoolchildren, scientists and just the inhabitants of the city today lay flowers at the monument to the great scientist, who became famous throughout the world for his research and discoveries.

Monument of the Laboratory Mouse in Novosibirsk

The installation of the monument was timed to the 120th anniversary of Novosibirsk. The idea of the monument is simple - the gratitude of mankind to experimental mice, with the help of which many discoveries were made, including DNA and RNA macromolecules, were studied in more detail. A bronze mouse, whose height is almost a meter, sits on a granite pedestal, glasses are put on the nose and needles in the legs - with them a small animal knits by a double spiral. The author of the monument, Andrei Kharkevich, made several sketches of the future statue, in the end, chose one of ten options. The mouse, according to the creator, is captured at the time of the scientific discovery; however, if you peer into the animal's muzzle, you can hardly see the delight in his small eyes.

Experiments at the Novosibirsk Institute of Cytology and Genetics are put not only on mice, but also on rats, pigs, hamsters, foxes and rabbits. In the future, scientists promise, they are going to perpetuate these animals.

Monument to the first date in Novosibirsk

Motives for the creation of a monument or sculpture and their placement on the streets of cities, in parks and squares, in each case are different. Wanting to perpetuate something or remind about the main thing, the masters of art introduce their own thoughts, feelings and experiences into the everyday life and the ordinary of houses and avenues. The same happened in Novosibirsk: the open monument to the First Date, located near the City Library, is like a reminder to everyone passing by both their first love and the transience of life. The reminder of the first feeling, immortalized in sculpture, enthusiastic and beautiful in its fear of not seeing more loved by a strange coincidence, leaves no one indifferent.

The composition is white figures - male and female. The girl, coming up from behind, covers the guy's eyes. He is holding a bouquet of flowers. The clock is ticking close by. What do the viewers think when looking at the sculpture? It may be that the girl was late for a date, having appeared at the very moment when, alarmed and confused, the young man was about to leave. Maybe about how the days and hours of waiting for a meeting for lovers are stretched.

Flower clock in Novosibirsk

Similar watches were created in the early 18th century by the Swedish scientist Carl Linnaeus. Of course, the practicality of the invention was in question, since such clocks were only getting at dawn, and stopped after sunset.

Now the flower clock in Novosibirsk works exactly in any weather and at any time of the day, since the electronic mechanism regulates them. This little miracle is located right in the city center, next to the Philharmonic Hall. The large dial-bed consists of several thousand annual flowers. The contours of the figures are highlighted by special electric bulbs, which help to see all this wonderful composition at a great distance even at night. Monument to toast “Now a kiss!” in Novosibirsk

There are many monuments and sculptural compositions dedicated in one way or another to love and loyalty around the world, in Russia and in Novosibirsk itself in particular. One of the most unusual is the composition dedicated to the famous wedding toast - “Now a kiss!” Hiding from prying eyes in the courtyard of the restaurant called "Paradise Garden" it represents two silhouettes merged into a kiss - male and female. Their bodies are practically the figure eight - a symbol of infinity, as if claiming that love is the only human value that from century to century attracts each other, makes them perform the most beautiful madness and presents examples of great faithfulness and sacrifice in the name of another.

Residents of the city know that its appearance is not at all accidental, and this is more of regularity than just the idea of an eccentric creator. The fact is that Novosibirsk, according to the largest number of marriages registered in Russia each year, is traditionally considered the wedding capital of the country. Therefore, where else to open a similar composition, immersed both in summer greenery and flowers, and in human adoration - which of the couples in love did not visit the monument, having touched it for good luck? As the sole owner of such a miracle of design and architecture, Novosibirsk, thanks to this sculpture, was entered into the Guinness Book.

Monument to a skateboarder in Novosibirsk

An unusual monument to a skateboarder appeared in the Dzerzhinsky district of Novosibirsk. The man in this art object is not present - only the board and sneakers. Alley of Call-in Memory in Novosibirsk

For a long time, there was a conscription point of the Novosibirsk Region on Kholodilnaya St., in its own way called “the Refrigerator” by the townspeople. For 28 years, this famous point of the military commissariat is located in the city of Ob, and its nickname has remained in Novosibirsk, in the same place. The recruits were recruited here for 32 years, from 1953 to 1985. In memory of that time, and most importantly of the fellow countrymen who left to serve the Motherland from here, on the street Kholodilnaya they installed a number of monuments that form a long avenue. The first monument of the Avenue of Appeal is the “Photo Album” sculpture, after which there are, as if accidentally, pages from the album, which captured important moments of army life. These are sculpture-symbols: one is dedicated to the good memory of the soldiers, the other is to important evidence, photographs, the third is a farewell before a long separation, and the fourth is a dance of happy reunion of lovers. All the sculptures of the ensemble contain photos and real stories from the life of recruits during the work of the draft board at Kholodilnaya St.

The alley is attractive not only for its heartfelt history and remarkable monuments. For three years, this street was comprehensively landscaped - a new asphalt roadway was flooded, sidewalks were paved, new trees, bushes, flower beds were planted, lighting poles were installed. Now, the Memorial Call Avenue is a unique example of a fully landscaped section of the urban environment.

Monument Metal Throne in Novosibirsk

One of the most amazing in its structure and design is the metal Throne monument. This monument is a quite solid and high metal chair. Along the edges it is decorated with images of small steel men, and above the head of a person sitting on a throne is a helmet representing a parody of the crown. The doors on the back of the throne can come off and close. The history of the monument, located on Deputatskaya Street, begins in 2001. It was purchased for a city rich in unusual monuments by the art gallery staff.

In accordance with the idea of the author of the throne project, Kapralov, it symbolizes a sudden greatness and is designed to remind you of the smallness and futility of any material values and aspirations for power compared to eternity and its foundations - humanity, kindness, forgiveness, reigning in the world not one thousand years. . Apparently, in accordance with this, the monument is popularly called the throne of “fools” - a pedestal for those who value wealth and power above all else and are ready to exalt them, like themselves, constantly. One of the most unusual monuments of our time, “Tron” constantly attracts attention to itself - and everyone who sees it for the first time is interested in the history of the artist’s appearance and design.
