Russian tourist visa for Ugandan citizens

It does not take a lot of time to issue such invitation, because they are issued in travel agencies, which have their own reference number. Inasmuch as an appearance of a tourist invitation does not set by the law, so every travel agency prints it on its own letterhead.

In every tourist invitation must be:     

  • An information about travel agency and its reference number;
  • Complete personal data of a foreign tourist;
  • A plan of his trip (up to 5 cities);
  • Arrival and departure dates to the Russian Federation;
  • Number of entries.

Inasmuch as Uganda is in the List of High Migration Risk countries, so the presence of a tourist invitation does not mean that tourist visa will be issued. Visa applicant also will need to prove that his purpose of visit is exactly tourism. For doing this it’s possible that a presence of air tickets, hotel booking and other documents may be demanded in the embassy. 

In that case if in the embassy will be considered a positive solution for issue a tourist visa for Ugandan citizen, so its validity will not be more than 30 days. Tourist visa is for single or double entries.

Russian private (homestay) visa for Ugandan citizens

In order to visit his relative or friend living in Russia, Ugandan citizen needs to apply for a homestay visa in the Russian embassy. For doing that he will need a homestay invitation letter issued for him by an inviting party and sent by an express mail.

For the issuance of a homestay visa, a relative or a friend of a Ugandan citizen living in Russia, should properly issue a homestay invitation.  For doing this he needs to make a request to the Federal Migration Service section on his residence’s administrative unit. Besides a homestay invitation application, he must present his passport and a copy of invited guest’s passport. Inviting party also must submit a guarantee letter in which they commit to provide an accommodation and medical care for their guest for the whole period of his stay in Russia. Inasmuch Uganda is in the List of High Migration Risk countries, then an inviting party must pass an interview with a FMS officer, during which it will be needed to explain the reasons of Ugandan citizen’s visit to Russia.

Visa application documents will be considered for 12 days for a single entry visa and 17 days for a double. If there will be a solution to issue homestay visa for Ugandan citizen, then its validity will not be more than 90 days. If there is a refusal, it will be issued in the written form with an indication of the reason for the refusal.

Russian business visa for Ugandan citizens

In order to visit Russian Federation for a signing of a contract or for an extension of his business relations, Ugandan citizen needs to obtain a business visa in the Russian embassy. For doing this he will need an invitation sent by an organization authorized in Russia.

The business visa invitation letter can be obtained by either of these ways:

Only those companies, which have an accreditation in the Consular department of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Russia or in the FMS can issue invitations in the form of the letter from an organization. In this case the issuance of an invitation will take no more than 1 day. In the invitation will be a request from the head of this organization to issue a work visa for a certain foreign citizen.

At the issuance of a business invitation on the state sample letterhead (which is protected from the forgery and have its personal number) an organization interested in the foreigner’s visit needs to contact the FMS and submit a business invitation application for Ugandan citizen. At the end of the allotted statutory period, a business invitation, which is needed to be sent to an invited foreign citizen, will be issued or there will be a refusal in the written form with an indication of the reasons.

Telex invitation represents itself a row of numbers, which should be given to an invited person by an inviting party. For doing this a company needs to make a request to the Ministry of foreign affairs of the Russian Federation to issue a business visa for Ugandan citizen. At the request, from the Ministry of foreign affairs of Russia to the Russian embassy in Uganda will be sent an order to issue a business visa.

Ugandan citizen must submit received business invitation and a list of all necessary documents for visa issuance in the Russian embassy. In case of a positive outcome, he will obtain Russian business visa for the period indicated in the business invitation. The maximum validity of Russian business visa for Ugandan citizens is 1 year. Such visa is for single, double and multiply entries.

Russian work visa for Ugandan citizens

If Ugandan citizen found an employer in Russia, he needs necessarily apply for a work visa. An employer must help him in doing this.

A company authorized in Russia, which is going to hire a foreigner, must have a permission to hire foreign employees (if they don’t have, they need to obtain it). Besides it, an employer needs to obtain a work permit for the foreign citizen. After an obtainment of this document it will be possible to issue a work invitation.

Work permit and work invitation must be sent from an employer by an express mail to Ugandan citizen, then he needs to apply for a work visa in the Russian embassy. Under such visa foreign citizen can stay in the Russian Federation for the whole period of its validity. If you need to prolong visa, you don’t have to leave the Russian Federation. It is possible to prolong a visa for an unlimited number of times under condition that an employer remains the same.

The validity of work visa can be 1 or 3 years. A number of crossing Russian borders during the visa validity is unlimited.

Russian Electronic Visa from Uganda

An electronic visa (hereinafter referred to as "e-visa") is a new type of a visa document. A visa invitation to Russia is not required for obtaining an e-visa. To obtain an e-visa to Russia use our “E-visa to Russia” service.

An e-visa can be only single-entry. The permitted stay in Russia on an e-visa is up to 8 days from the date of entry within its validity period.

The validity period and/ or permitted stay on an e-visa cannot be extended. To obtain an e-visa a foreign citizen needs a digital passport photo and a completed application form containing full and valid data at the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
