Tour to the Temple of Basil the blessed
Current city
- Moscow

You will visit St. Basil's Cathedral located on the Red Square. The cathedral was named after Moscow's Holy Fool Basil the Blessed and is considered to be one of the main symbols of Moscow and all Russia. The canonical name of the cathedral is the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Mother of God on the Moat. The cathedral was built during the rule of Ivan the Terrible to commemorate the capture of Kazan in October 1552. Despite the visual randomness of construction at teh first sight the cathedral has an organizational structure. Nine domes stand on a single foundation. Eight of them represent the main Vvictory of the Moscow troops in the war against the Kazan Khanate and are lined up around the central ninth dome. The tenth dome (on the north-west side) was added to the Tsar Fedor in 1588 for the burial of the remains of St. Basil. None of the domes look alike both in exterior and interior techniques. Inside the cathedral you will see 9 delightful icon-stands that contain more than 400 icons of the 16th -19th centuries and its walls decorated with beautiful paintings and frescoes.
