Russian Tourist Visa Requirements for Citizens of Albania

If you are an Albanian citizen, who wishes to visit any of the many places of interest found across Russia, you need to contact the Russian embassy and  apply for a Russian tourist visa. To do that, you need to provide the required documents, including a visa support letter (letter of invitation) issued specifically for your tourist visa.

To arrange a tourist visa invitation, contact any travel company having an individual reference number assigned to it by Russian authorities. As the appearance of the invitation is not fixed by law, travel agencies print them on their letterheads. Any tourist visa invitation issued by a travel company consists of a tourist voucher and a confirmation of acceptance. It takes about 1 hour to make a tourist visa invitation.

Make sure the travel company's assistant will provide the following information in your tourist visa invitation: the company's details with its legal address and reference number indicated and your personal details. It is also necessary to indicate all of the destinations in Russia you intend to visit, as well as your travel dates and the number of entries you request for your visa.

Tourist visas are issued for the period specified in the invitation, however it may not exceed 30 days. This type of visa can be single- or double-entry.

Russian Private (Visitor) Visa Requirements for Citizens of Albania

Albanian citizens, planning a trip to Russia with an intention to visit their friends or relatives, need to contact the Russian Embassy and apply for a private visa. In that case, a letter of invitation to support the application is a requirement. The host person or company must handle the process of obtaining the letter and then send it to Albania by mail. Both individuals and legal persons are entitled to invite foreign citizens to visit Russia.

The legal entity's representative should contact a local FMS (Federal Migration Service) office and submit an application along with the required supporting documents. The application will be processed within 17 working days.

Please note! We do not recommend using a private visa!

Individuals who wish to invite a foreign friend or relative to Russia are required to contact a nearby FMS office and apply for issuance of an invitation. It is necessary that he/she provides the supporting documents and a Letter of guarantee. The letter must state that the host agrees to accommodate the visitor for the entire period of validity of his/her visa. Since Albania is, according to the Russian authorities, a high travel risk country, any person who invites a foreigner to visit Russia is required to pass an interview at the FMS. It takes 30 days for the FMS to process the application.

Visitor visa invitations are issued on the standard form. Some applications may be refused. A written explanation shall be provided in that case.

Visitor visa may be issued for a period up to 90 days. This type of visa can be used for one or two entries.

The business visa invitation letter can be obtained by either of these ways:

Only those companies that are certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation are entitled to issue invitation letters. The letter is basically a request to issue a business visa to the Albanian applicant.

To arrange an FMS-issued business visa invitation, the sponsor company must contact the FMS. If the Albanian citizen successfully passes a background check and no deportation cases or unpaid fines for visa violation will be found, a business visa invitation will be granted.

Telex invitation is a digital message sent from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Russian Consulate in Albania via special communication channel containing an instruction to grant a business visa to the specified applicant. If this method is used, the sponsor company's official should inform the invited person about the individual Telex number assigned to his/her application. The Albanian citizen should then provide this number when applying for his/her business visa at the Consulate.
